I first heard of the Kingdom of Amarugia while reading a Missouri Department of Conservation brochure about the area where it was originally located, now owned by MDC. Apparently there was a place near Archie, Missouri that tried to become its own country around the time of the Civil War. They had a king and of course a "kingdom" that can even be found on maps of the area around that time. Even today people have had strange encounters on this land and some insist that ancestors of the original Kingdom still live in the area today. I find this place extremely interesting but information about it online is strangely hard to come by. Has anyone on here heard about it or had any luck finding information about it?

This is really interesting, it looks like there is a book out there if you can get your hands on it. I'll have to keep digging

Weird stuff. There’s a lake/conservation area of that name, but not a lot of info. I’m curious to find out what you learn!

Anyone down for an epic adventure? We could like LARP the whole thing in costume and play some D&D while we march through the woods? "The Quest for Amarugia" we'll call it... no? You sure? :-P

Fine... I did find this though:

http://www.casscolibrary.org/casscountyhistory/map17/

And this post on a "Professor Hex's" blogspot by an anonymous poster, just to add some more mystery:
http://professorhex.blogspot.com/2009/1 ... rugia.html

"Been to the Amarugia's many times. It is a dangerous area due to the doors that have been open for evil spirits, these doors have been opened by Devil worshipers. Im a 21 year old thrill seeker and the things i have seen out there haunt me to this day. Avoid researching this area, it will posses you, that is why this place that everyone talks about has no published history of the truth out there. only the locals know the dangers" -Anonymous

There are more posts here from locals describing weird stuff.

Just found a KMBC article where they pulled two cars out of the lake in 2012. I’m really intrigued by the lack of information out there.

wow, we definitely need to go check that place out, just gotta remember to bring an old priest and a young priest.

edit: having looked at google maps, the whole place looks like an empty patch of forest. google maps even shows the lake as drained with construction vehicles in/around it. The place may very well have been "sanitized" of anything interesting.
Judge if you want. We are all going to die. I intend to deserve it.

yeah I noticed that as well. Seems very strange that they would bulldoze over the lake. What is really going on here?

I met a guy that does paranormal investigations around Harrisonville who has been out there. Hes been out there with all of his equipment multiple times, says he has multiple pictures of a guy on horseback as well as what looks like a solider with a bandage on his head. Trying to get him to send them to me so i can post them.

That would be pretty cool.

This place doesn't fall inline with the URB part of Ex, but I'd be down to go out and tool around with a camera and such.

I just drove there tonight to take a look around. Once I found the place this overwhelming feeling of terror came over me and I could not get out of my car... and I am pretty ballsy about walking into creepy and dangerous places. Strange vibes there for sure.
