Alright, so you're sneaking around an abandoned building with long corridors where sound travels well and you hear foot steps or voices approaching...

Do you find a hiding spot, just casually continue exploring, or immediately do something to make your presence known?

A few years ago I was exploring/ghost hunting in the abandoned hospital building of the Oddfellow's Home in Liberty, MO...

It was mid-afternoon and I was sitting in a room with the door closed when I heard voices and feet crunching their way down the hallway.

When they were close by, I yelled "Marco! I'm comin' out!" and I see Amy Bruni and John Tenney (from Ghost Hunters/Kindred Spirits) along with the owner of the winery...

They all stood there looking at me like I was crazy! I didn't get in any trouble and we all went back inside to the bar and proceeded to drink wine and share ghost stories.

That was the best possible outcome of not being sneaky for once!

That’s pretty fuckin cool. I try to stay hidden until I can see who they are, then I declare myself.

But if they’re cops or security, I’m gonna run or hide.

My M.O. is calling out "Marco!" when it seems safe enough to deactivate stealth mode...

Although I do love the reactions I get when I just casually appear out of nowhere and they aren't sure whether I'm actually a real person or not. Image

I always will hide first, then assess the threat. Was always good with hide-n-seek as a kid; seems to have helped me out these days.
